Took a mental heath day from work on Friday and extended the weekend. Allow me to take in a few fire calls.
First call was for an alarm system down the street from the firehouse. The FM took the call and recalled the company for a malfunction in the alarm system before we responded.
Second call was an MVA on the highway. Truck rolled before I got there.
Third call a ladder special call for an apartment fire. I made the truck and got there, but our services weren't needed. Took them the better part of 30 minutes to figure that out but none-the-less.

Car Fire
After a night time snowfall where we acutally didn't turn a wheel we were hit for a car fire on the highway.
I was at home and got to the firehouse just in time to watch the rescue leave the station. As it was a highway job we were held to on truck. Didn't matter much though since within 10 minutes the recall was issued.

Weekend Update
Friday night I ran a 19:00 to Midnight duty crew, which of course meant that short of going out for Chinese food we didn't turn a wheel and ended up being 6 guys watching a movie.
Sunday however we ended up with three calls. A car fire on the highway, which we were recalled from before arrival, a CO detector in a private home, and an alarm investigation.
The car fire we were recalled prior to arrival, the alarm system we were recalled prior to responding. Well we responded, but immediately were recalled, we didn't even make it out the door.
The CO detector however I was on the entry crew for. We entered the house (off air) and started to check, my other crew member had the meter, immediately the meter started to go up, "3", "4", "5". Simultaneously you heard the sound of all our air bottles being turned on. We never donned the masks though at 5ppm we were well below the limits and the oxygen level in the house was always around 20. So we were never in danger, it was just amusing that three firemen all decided it was time to fire up their packs.

Snowstorm Respiratory Arrest
It never fails, when the snow falls people get sick and it's usually pretty nasty. Maybe it's because it's tougher to get to them, maybe it's only because it takes an extra three or four minutes to clean the snow off the car... all the while thinking "there is a person somewhere who's not breathing who needs my help" but you seem to remember the snowstorm calls.
Anyway the time it took to get the car ready to go, and to get to the firehouse. I missed the truck and the captain held it to one truck.

Back in the saddle
After a bit of time, and apparently a lot of ball busting I'm back.
We caught an EMS run last night while I was at the station. Basically an older woman in the midst of a panic attack about getting to the hospital. Medics treated and I used it as an opportunity to familiarize myself with the O2 bag. We went available shortly after arriving.
